MFA Mid-Residency Show
Being a woman is a journey.
For my grandmothers, an education was a snubbed commodity.
Any independence, a ‘rebellion’.
Years later, I find myself - an Indian, brown, educated, free woman - still fighting to be myself in a world that writes its rules differently for me.
Turns out keeping my feelings muted is the 'feminine', proper thing to do. But I am not proper. My protest is the expression of distaste.
And my protest - a gentle, soft-girl protest - has only just begun.
Things have pissed me off.
I intend to sing loudly about them.
